This past month I have been studying in New York City at Parsons The New School of Design. I took their summer program last summer for Fashion in Paris. Once again, I have had another amazing experience with them.
This summer I took the pre-college Graphic Design program. We worked with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Final Cut Pro. I've always been familiar with these programs, teaching myself, but this course helped my skills improve 100 times better.
In class, we designed an Album Cover, Personal Logo, Magazine, Movie, NYC Alphabet Book, Coney Island Picture Book, Illustrated a Children's Book Cover, created a Cultural Print, designed Stamps, and illustrated a map of New York. It was quite an intense month filled with class Monday-Friday, site seeing on weekends, and stalking Gossip Girl on my lunch breaks (they were filming in the city). I had the time of my life, not wanting a second of it to end.
During my time there, one of the many projects was to create a short film based on our experience in New York. It took me a week of shooting and 5 hours of editing to pull this video together. One of my favorite clips is the time-lapse of the sunsetting. A lot of the clips are out of focus displaying the way I saw the city through my eyes. New York can be a very beautiful place from a far, but up close, I'm not that fond of it- so I tend to blur my mind of the unattractive parts. I got some amazing footage from on top of the Empire State building. It was my first time up there and I never saw so many lights in my life!!!
It's been another amazing July filled with memories I'll never forget. I've learned more about myself, and grown more as an artist. Now I just have to take these skills and run with it.
Ta-taa for now,
Arianna

So amazing. I wish I had the kind of funds to to a Parson's intensive. Financially, did it fulfill your expectations?

Omg I'm jealous cause all I got out of that was Gossip Girl lol you're really pushing for your dreams and I admire you for that...what specifically do you want to do in the fashion world? Also I'm a upcoming senior and now how hectic its going to be applying for college. Do you think applying to Parsons summer courses will increase your chances of getting accepted? JUst curious because a talented male friend of mine applied to both Parsons and FIT but only got accepted into Parsons.
