For our final project we had to design and sew a garment. I decided to make a dress based off of my first drawn collection in my sketchbook called Femme Fatale (I will be uploading my sketches later today). I made it in literally four hours by hand with a needle and thread!
I went to the fabric store called Marche Saint Pierre which is renowned in France. It's 6 floors of hundreds of spools of fabric. It can be a bit overwhelming inside, so you need to know what you are looking for before you go or you will be swept away into a sea of fabrics.
Once we made our garment, we then had to hold a photo shoot. I decided to take it in front of the Eiffel Tower which is iconic and the ultimate symbol of fashion. Usually I am taking pictures in other designers clothing, but it feels amazing to say that I made this!
Initially, I took some pictures in a garden by my school but we were shoo'd away by security. Apparently a tripod is a little to professional for Paris, LOL. While taking the photos a group of people started yelling "Gisele, Gisele"! I had my friend with me who speaks french and she told them I wasn't Gisele and this was just a school project. For a split second I felt like a star- my moment of fame! Like I said... only in Paris!
Ta-taa for now,
Arianna
